Since the 1970s, the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at Harvard Kennedy School has been a leading source of independent research on all aspects of nuclear policy. The center’s scholars have examined complex issues involving nuclear safety and security, proliferation, and terrorism. We regard threats to nuclear security, and in particular the threat of nuclear terrorism, to be the gravest security risk facing the United States and the world.
We have prepared this website to support international efforts to prevent terrorists from acquiring nuclear material. We hope it will be useful to anyone with an interest in ongoing efforts to strengthen nuclear security. The site will also provide up to date materials on the Nuclear Security Summit process, which will next convene a meeting of world leaders in The Netherlands in March, 2014. In addition, the Belfer Center's main website offers access to archives containing decades of research on all facets of nuclear-related policy issues.
